More snow

Thursday, January 27th, 2011
It's hardly news that the northeast has been covered in snow most of the winter. Anyway, took a walk early this morning through Central Park... didn't take many pics but I wanted to share this tree which mesmerized me. Nothing really to add, so beautiful. The fun part of wandering that way today were the dog walkers out in droves; hundreds of dogs bounding through the drifts.

Pioneers V

My trek through the Pacific northwest in December really wasn't a project trip for Pioneers but there were still a few gems along our route mostly along the rocky and wooden Oregon coast. Here are some of my favorites as I begin to plan my next real trip devoted to this project in the coming weeks. (Earlier posts on the Pioneers project: I, II, III, IV)

Decade

[caption id="attachment_675" align="alignnone" width="450" caption="Toe Fishing, Columbia, MO ©2001"][/caption] Within a day last week I received an old postcard I made in 2001 during college as well as a shiny new copy of the American Photography 26 book, both from friends. It was 10 years ago now that I shot my first real freelance job (U.S. News & World Report), and that I made my first plans to leave Missouri. I certainly had no clue about the twists and turns my work and career would take. It's super cool to have received such nice play in the AP book, and I'm surrounded by some class acts... Leavitt, and Lillegraven before, and my buddy Ben Lowy right after. Anyway, a nice way to start 2011 as I mull over my AP27 entry and begin a new year, decade.
